This Wednesday marked the symbolic start of the collaboration in Indonesia to produce future players and coaches,
as FC Barcelona officially opened the FCB Escola with the aim not just of forming good sportsmen and women, but also good people. This will be the first residential school the Club has set up outside of Spain.

Marketing Director Laurent Colette was charged with laying the first stone of the building and defined the project as: “the seeds – we’ll water them and when the tree grows, we’ll look after it”, quoting the dedication which will appear on the school and symbolises Barça’s commitment to continue to grow internationally and introduce itself into the 220 million strong country through its sporting and social structures.

The FCB Escola Director Xevi Marcé commented: “the concept of the Masia is unique and can be found in Barcelona, but its values are transmitted via the FCB Escola. It is a period of learning over the long range, which demands a lot of care over the details in developing our sport and the humanity of the players”.
Indonesia is an emerging power when football is becoming ever more important. In that sense, FCB Escola will be organising a series of activities to make sure that they reach the maximum number of children and integrate them into the project. The Club hopes that after this great start, they will be able to develop a long term prosperous relationship with the country and create other projects such as friendly matches, sponsoring and social initiatives.
