Abidal sends his best wishes to Muamba

The France international has shown tremendous character to put his own health troubles a side and offer the Bolton Wanderers midfielder his public support

FCBarcelona left-back Eric Abidal has sent a message of support to Fabrice Muamba after the Bolton Wanderers midfielder suffered an on-pitch heart attack during the FA Cup quarter-final match against Tottenham on Saturday.

The pair have been the subject of widespread support from football fans around the world and Abidal, who is set to undergo a liver transplant in the next few weeks, found the time to wish Muamba well.

The France international wrote a message on his official Facebook account: "Fabrice Muamba, all my heart is with you and your loved ones! We're with you and your family!"

Muamba continues to recover at The London Chest Hospital. Although he remains in intensive care, Bolton have confirmed on their official website that the 23-year-old is now able to breathe independently without the aid of a ventilator and he is able to recognise family members.

There is no date set yet for Abidal's liver transplant operation as he continues to participate in Barcelona's training sessions.
